More Than a Meal: Giving Back the Gift of Childhood

This single bag of rice was the only food that remained for over 50 children located in an orphanage home in Liberia, West Africa on one of our trips in 2017. Unfortunately, this is a reality seen far too often.

For the more than 2 million children under the age of 18 in Liberia, childhood is challenging. In counties where poverty and food insecurity are especially prevalent, countless children find themselves in foster homes and orphanages, yearning for stability, care, and a nourishing meal. Many children are under-supported and spend their hours looking for the next meal to eat, even forced to drop out of school to work just to survive.

Together, we’re changing that.

Thanks to our incredible supporters, we have been able to provide over 8 million meals to children and 100,000 tons of food delivered annually. Every month, our partners in the field load bags of rice and beans, oil, and toiletry items into the back of a box truck and drive winding, muddy roads to orphanages and foster homes across Liberia. Children pour out of the houses, cheering and laughing.

Over the years, we’ve had opportunities to expand our work beyond just Liberia. Halfway around the world, our partners in the Philippines navigate their way up to the most remote villages to make sure that the children there receive a warm meal.

Our incredible supporters have made sure that we’ve never missed a food drop.

Because of their full bellies, so many more children can laugh, run, swing, use their imaginations, play, and just be a kid without worrying about where their next meal is coming from.

We are so grateful for everyone that has helped provide the best gift of all: The Gift of Childhood.
